Review
Across history, the most skilled poets could encapsulate a life-story on the back of a cocktail napkin, and The Napkin Poetry Review wants to bring these creation stories—sparks of brilliance—to life. Combining poetry with photography, we collaborate with art directors and photographers who have worked for magazines such as Vanity Fair, W Magazine, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, and Vogue as well as up-and-coming talent to explore storytelling and the creative process. By interpreting the poems as still life images, the review aims to capture the potency, color, and mystery behind each piece. Alongside poetry, the review includes a behind-the-scenes profile of many poets. Likewise, we seek to demonstrate how poetry fits into our daily lives and will include regular research articles highlighting the physical, social and mental benefits of poetry, inviting professors from various academic fields such as neuroscience, business, and natural sciences to comment. An online periodical, the review will also present as a bi-annual print collector's edition to highlight the talents & backstories of each publication cycle. Our associated Instagram account, @napkinpoetry_review, can be followed as well to see the latest photos, poems, additional writerly content, and event updates.
